A number of bodybuilders and athletes have died in Pakistan in the last couple of weeks and some are indicating the culprit is anabolic steroid usage.

The two amateur bodybuilders that have passed away have been named as; Hamid “Ustaad Gujju” Ali and Humayun Khurram, whilst a wrestler named Rizwan and athlete Maqloob Haider died in the last 17 days.

heart steroidsBodybuilders Ali and Khurram were both competing in the 2016 Mr. Pakistan and the 11th Annual WBPF South Asian Bodybuilding & Physique Sports Championship in Lahore, Pakistan on March 30th to April 4, 2016. Although not confirmed, anabolic steroids, human growth hormone (HGH) and diuretic usage have been suspected as playing a role.

Not dying immediately, both passed away 2 weeks following the end of the bodybuilding competition. Ali won the bronze medal in the 2016 Mr. Pakistan bodybuilding contest. By the next morning he was dead by cardiac arrest.

Chaudhry Faheem Nawaz, an associate and training partner of Ali, later stated his horror at losing his good friend and that he didn’t think Ali has used performance-enhancing drugs.

“The cause of his death was a cardiac arrest. I am 100 per cent sure he didn’t do anything illegal or took anything wrong during or before the championship. He had three young daughters; he couldn’t afford to be careless like that,” said Nawaz.

Khurram also died of cardiac arrest, although his family stated his trachea broke when he was eating a meal. This sounds unrelated to anabolic steroid usage.

Khurram had previously won Mr. Punjab, Mr. Pakistan and Mr. Lahore and also winning a gold medal at the 2016 WBPF South Asian Bodybuilding Championship.

Pakistan Bodybuilding Federation (PBBF) president Sheikh Farooq Iqbal said that they would be clamping down on PED usage and cleaning up the sport on Pakistan.

“With the help of government of Pakistan, we are going to cancel the registration of all the gyms across the country and forming a five-member committee which will register all the gyms again and then take oath from all the gyms not to use illegal drugs and those found using them will be sealed and a stern action taken against them,” he said.

Anabolic steroids have not been proved to be the cause of these above 4 deaths, but cardiac arrest remains a growing health concern among bodybuilders and steroid users.

At Steroidal.com, we suggest taking a number of support supplements for heart health and circulatory benefit when using anabolic steroids, HGH, PEDs or peptides.
